Welcome to Brisbane

Brisbane, also known as "The City of Lights", was opened up in 1908 under its original name, Visitacion City. Due to its similarity to a nearby district in San Francisco, its name was changed in the 1920's. It is known for its abundance of greenery and parks and close proximity to the San Francisco Bay. However, Brisbane also has growing commercial areas, with companies such as Dolby, Actelion, and The RealReal being tenants here.

Did You Know?

• Brisbane is home to the Dakin Building, an architectural award-winning class A office building nicknamed the "Luke Skywalker" building.
• Humprey the Whale, a humpback whale that attracted national media attention when entering the San Francisco Bay in 1985 and 1990, was filmed from the top floors of the Dakin Building when he was beached on a nearby mudflat in 1989.
